Winter’s arrived. We couldn’t escape it. That first snow is beautiful and when I walked Romeo at 7A yesterday morning with the snow falling it was so peaceful; no noise, not even a bird (that’s one of my homemade birdhouses). I like to look for critter tracks and there were lots of them. Poor Romeo’s paws hurt from the salt on the road so I had to soak them when we got home. Yes, those of you who know Romeo might not think so but Romeo is a wuss!
Being a Vermonter, I remember going out in the morning to make igloos at the end of the driveway. We’d carve them out really smooth and then spend the entire day in them until we got called for dinner. I’m bringing this up because I have yet to see a kid playing outside in my neighborhood. Oh yeah, remember when you used to go from house to house asking if you could shovel your neighbor’s driveways? Now it costs $40 a plow!!
There’s not much happening with 2 at the Bar this Saturday night. It’s too cold and we are having too much fun with our new Apple TV to go out. So a little fettuccine with shrimp and a ceasar salad at the home table. Oh and I had to have my Rocky Road with fudge.
We’ve gotten into the TV series 24. I don’t know why we never watched it before so now we’re catching up on season 1.
Also watched “I Love To Swat Flys” about the quirky restaurant called Shopsin’s in Greenwich Village. It’s a doc. 2 thumbs up!
So today it’s gearing up for the big game. First we’re going to meet our friend Arnie in Norwood for a little breakfast at Murph’s Place. We’ve known Arnie for probably 35 years!
Then it’s off to Saab’s, the Lebanese grocery in Norwood. We love the Kefte that they make. Kefte is seasoned ground lamb. We make patties and freeze them. I buy a chicken schwarma for later and we buy three different kinds of olives and some Lebanese olive oil.
Next week we’ll get down to really start the planning for Mexico. We’re already looking at where the best tacos are; we have a guide lined up to tour us through the DF (Mexico City) and we have a reservation at Dulce Patria one of the top restaurants in Mexico City which is located at our hotel. If the Patriots win today we’ll be watching the Super Bowl in Mexico City; how much fun will that be!!
So today at around 7PM it’s either going to be a very happy Patriots Nation or a very, very sad one!
So see you next week at the bar….
