Qingdao Garden

Saturday night in Chinatown. That sounded like a good idea; we haven’t had Chinese in a while.  But by the time we got in the car and started driving we decided that Chinatown would be a hassle with the parking nonexistent on Saturday night so we went to Cambridge to a restaurant we’d been to once before and loved – Qingdao Garden.

It’s located at the far end of Mass Ave, close to the Arlington line.  It’s a family affair known for dumplings, made daily from scratch.  There are six varieties and tonight’s was chicken and cabbage.  A chicken and cabbage combination doesn’t sound appetizing but they were really good!   Along with the dumplings we had sautéed mustard greens with garlic, house fried rice, salt and pepper squid and lamb with cumin.  We ate way more than we should have but there was enough left over to take home for someone’s lunch on Monday (not mine!).

We loved everything except for the lamb with cumin; not that it wasn’t good but just not to our liking.  Roy likes his food so hot and spicy that it makes steam come out of his ears and this dish didn’t do it for him. I like the crispy lamb with cumin at Chinese Mirch better.

If you feel like Chinese and don’t want to bother with Chinatown, give Qingdao Garden a try.

Tonight

Until next time, see you at the bar…..
