In the cutest trailer set in the wilds of a Needham office park, sits Blue Ribbon BBQ. You can smell it a mile away!
Open from 11:30-7P the line starts forming before 11:30 but they have a good system: limited menu, plenty of help and smiling faces. Everything is prepared at their commissary daily so it’s ready to go. It was hard to decide between pulled pork or brisket but I finally decided on a brisket sandwich with two sides: coleslaw and potato salad. I could have eaten the whole thing but I restrained myself so that Roy could have a taste. There’s a variety of barbecue sauces, homemade pickles, and a hot corn relish which looked thermonucelar and I was afraid to try.
Jeff, the owner and a Needham resident, was able to set up shop in this wasteland. It’s a welcome site.
Along with great food Blue Ribbon is giving out free CD’s called Sampler featuring local music. Jeff told us that he was in the home of barbecue, Austin, TX and I asked him if he knew who Alejandro Escovedo was. “Yeah, we’re catering for him tomorrow night backstage; we’re rock n’ rollers!!” Roy and I will be there but unfortunately not backstage!! Watch for my review of that concert!
See you at the bar….
