A Hot Tip – not really!

The Kentucky Derby – I got a hot tip.  A sure winner.  I never bet and rarely watch the Kentucky Derby but it sounded like fun thing to do – go to Suffolk Downs, do some people watching and bet on a few horses.  So I did a quick study on the field, Roy did some studying on how to bet and with money in hand we went to Suffolk Downs with L and M and J and C who relied on us and our knowledge (they’re very trusting).  We had a system.  Roy would bet on the ones that weren’t favorites and I bet on three favorites including my sure thing.  I had to bet on Wicked Strong because he had a Boston connection and a portion of the earnings are going to the One Fund; Intense Holiday, my sure thing; and, Riding on Curlin, another Boston connection.  Well, they say that the favorite hardly ever wins but he won yesterday.  Six of us betting and six of us lost!  Oh well!

After the race, we worked up an appetite and headed for Sebastian’s on Broadway in Revere.  We read some good rev iews about it and it wasn’t far from the racetrack so we decided to give it a try.

A cozy neighborhood Italian restaurant – it was delightful.  Mark, our great waiter provied the excellent service and the food was very, very  good.  On the table, some of the best stuffed Quahogs we’ver ever had, fruitt di mare with linguine and a red sauce, swordfish with polenta and a vegetable risotto, chicken parm and chilean sea bass.  There were no complaints from our table!  For dessert a delicious limoncello cake and a dark chocolate lava cake.  Some good wine, espresso, great friends and a good evening was had by all even though our system at the track failed us!

Will we go back.  Definitely.  If you don’t want to go through the hassle of parking in the North End and are looking for a good alternative, give this restaurant a try.

See you at the bar….
