Summer Vacation – Stop I can’t eat any more!!

Roma!  A train from Naples, a taxi to Trastervere where we would be staying.  The taxi stopped across the street from the building we were going to be staying in for two nights.  No sign on the door, nothing to welcome us.  We had to schlep our bags across a busy street, ring a doorbell and either walk up four easy flights of marble stairs or take an old fashioned lift which could only fit Roy and the bags.   Continue reading “Summer Vacation – Stop I can’t eat any more!!”

Summer Vacation: Next Stop – Capri

The first thing I learned is that Capri is mispronounced.  It’s not  ka-PREE which is how I always hear it, it’s KAH-pree – that’s how the Italians say it.

Capri is everything you think it is.  It’s beautiful, it’s magical, it sparkles, it smells good like the streets are perfumed and was a perfect stop for us on the second leg of our trip. Continue reading “Summer Vacation: Next Stop – Capri”

Summer Vacation Italy – First Stop: Naples

When I sat down to write about this trip, there was a lot to digest.  What should I write about?  The pizza?   The walking tour in Naples?  The magic of Capri?  The awesomeness of Rome?  The food?  The wine? Where’ve We Been??
